Awarded each year in recognition of a student’s contribution to the life of the school.

Swedish Wood Student Architect Award

This is the 4th year that Swedish Wood have sponsored a prize at Liverpool School of Architecture. From a shortlist of projects chosen by tutors, Swedish Wood choose the projects in BA3 and MArch5, which demonstrate an innovative use of timber in design and construction.

BA: Max Bonner for his project ‘The Lantern Theatre’ (CCS)

MArch: Aimee Mulhall for her project ‘Enhancing Neurodiverse Autonomy in Domestic Design’ and Bryan Cotta, Daniel Lu, Hak Long Ng for their project ‘The Asylum Seekers’ Co-operative

SHEPPARD ROBSON Jicwood Prize

For many years, Sheppard Robson has awarded the Jicwood Prize to students demonstrating an unique architectural viewpoint in BA3 and MArch5. The judges from Sheppard Robson were looking for thoughtful projects that considered sustainability and community through sensitive interventions.

BA3 Endowment Prizes

The BA3 Endowment Prizes are awarded due to generous gifts from former staff and students of the School

The David Inman fund prize is awarded to students with the best Performance in Environmental Science in BA3

The David Thistlewood was a former prize is awarded to the BA3 student with the highest mark for their History essay. This year we had two students with the joint highest mark.

The Anthony Minoprio prize is awarded to the BA3 student with the best rendered drawings for their 3rd year projects.

The Sikorski Memorial Prize is awarded to 3 students in BA3 for outstanding interior design.

School of the Arts Academic Achievement Awards

The School of the Arts Academic Achievement awards are given to students for their outstanding academic achievement in BA3.

Tarn Dissertation Prize

The Tarn Dissertation Prize is awarded to students for outstanding disserations in K10D Architecture Design Studies or MArch5.

Sophie Ahmed for her dissertation ‘The Impetus of Modernisation in German Architecture in the period 1870-1940.’and Jack Piercy for his dissertation ‘Assessing the experiential architecture of narrative-driven video games through a reiterated Vitruvian triad’

MArch4 Prizes

The Norwest Holst prize is awarded to the MArch4 student who has the best performance in Practice Management and Law.

The Building Management Prize is awarded to the student with the best performance in Sustainable Construction and Management.

The P S TYSON prize is awarded to the students who demonstrate the best engagement with technology design work in MArch4.

Each year a BA3 project and MArch5 project are nominated for submission for the Architects Journal Student Prize parts 1 and 2 respectively. This year it is expected and encouraged that all entries to address issues of sustainability and the sustainability award category has been incorporated into the main awards to reflect this.

Professor Robert P Nicholls bursaries

Every year, the School is able to award a travel bursary for a BA3 or MArch4 student due to a generous gift from an alumnus of the School, Professor Robert P Nicholls. He is Professor Emeritus at the College of Environment and Design at the University of Georgia.

The Lionel Stirgess Architecture and Landscape Design Award

This is the inaugural year for 2 new awards, made possible due to a legacy gift from valued alumnus and noted architect, Mr Lionel Stirgess, who passed away September 2022. The awards are the Lionel Stirgess Architecture and Landscape Design award and the Lionel Stirgess Drawing award, with a first and second prize for both and can be awarded to either MArch or BA students.
