Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2022 & ArCHIAM 10-years
Opening and Symposium
Opening: Tuesday 30th May 2023 6pm
An evening event on Tuesday 30th May at RIBA North, attended by the University of Liverpool’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Tim Jones, will open the 2022 Aga Khan Award for Architecture and ArCHIAM exhibitions. The Aga Khan Award for Architecture (2022) exhibition will showcase the 20 shortlisted projects, including the 6 winning projects, while ArCHIAM exhibition will present the work of the Liverpool School of Architecture’s research centre in cultural heritage research and practice, and the common threads between their work.

Symposium: Inclusive, Sustainable, Innovative Wednesday 31st May 2023 10am to 6pm
On Wednesday 31st May, the symposium Inclusive, Sustainable, Innovative will explore the changing nature of globalised practice and the paradoxical relationship between globalisation and inclusiveness. The event will include introductions from Farrokh Derakhshani, Director of Aga Khan Award for Architecture, Professor Fiona Beveridge, Executive Pro Vice Chancellor Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Paul Monaghan, Design Champion Liverpool, together with keynote talks from Professor Farshid Moussavi OBE, RA on The role of Architects and Professor Hanif Kara OBE on After Collaboration.
There will be discussions involving international, national and local architecture figures, academics from the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). To complement the event will be the screening of two films created by XJTLU academics and students introduced by Professor Jayalakshmi Garrabost on previous award-winning Chinese projects.
A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.
