BA3 Studio 5 (Dr. Torsten Schmiedeknecht, Julien Denis, Jane Cadot, Susanne Pollmann and 21 Students) have recently returned from their field trip to Vienna, where they visited their semester two sites, and various C20 sites and buildings such as the Karl-Marx-Hof, Otto Wagner’s Postsparkasse and Majolicahaus, the Loos Haus, the Werkbundsiedlung and Olbrich’s Secession Building. Despite the cold weather the trip was a valuable experience, providing food for thought and a good starting point for the semester two project for an International Centre for Interdisciplinary Research (ICIR). Some staff and students also indulged in typical Viennese cuisine such as Wienerschnitzel and Apfelstrudel, while others sampled local ‘Kneipen’ and clubs.
