OTB Foundation + The Outlets For The Creative Arts
The OTB Foundation is an arts based multi-disciplinary building, based on the south edge of Giudecca, that is crafted from the fashion it is based on. Its structural elements are constructed from recycled fabrics combined with a chemical process to create a load bearing material named Textile Fibre Reinforced Composite [TFRC]. The Cross Laminated Timber [CLT] floor plates, that the TFRC support, encompass spaces revolving around fashion such as a catwalk, library and design studios. These areas can hold fashion shows and allow both tourists and locals to learn about the history of the art and how to design garments. This is facilitated by the OTB foundation who are located in Veneto and own brands such as Diesel and Maison Margiela. The other amenities within the proposal include an art gallery that displays art from the surrounding communities, whether that be from the students, professionals or those within the outlets for creative arts, and facilitates its sales within an auction room housed within the building. Along with this sits a café and garment outlet which all accumulate to create a local economy for the Venetians. This is driven by themselves and tourists but the product of which helps to improve the surrounding community.
