Music for all to hear- a music hall with outdoor performance spaces.

Cafe Reality & The Instrument

A Cafe and a music hall side by side to create a space for socialising and discussion. Both buildings blur the connection between indoors and outdoors through the use of voids. Cafe reality creates a calming environment for people to ditch their devices and socialise. ‘The instrument’ next door has outdoor performance spaces on each level that allow music to be heard from outdoors, as well as this, the facade features wind chimes and a drainage system that amplifies rain sounds. The building becomes musical. I believe that music connects us, so allowing users of both buildings, as well as passers-by, to hear the music and sounds created by ‘The instrument’ was an important connection for me to explore.
