Into the Garden
Bootle is a traditional industrial city in history. See through the city fabric, along the Leeds-Liverpool canal, greenery is lacked in offering energy for the city. A green, peaceful and energetic garden, which will perfectly facilitated the city environment and seamlessly lent itself to elders living life.
This project chose timber, a kind of sustainable material to response to the existing wood resource on site. By returning to surrounding buildings’ height, low-2-storege buildings was decided and designed. Fifty rooms offer to Category 1 & 2 elders are designed into single and double-beds room, to fit possible multiple needs.
Not only for living, functions including commercial, health control, social and activities have been thought about in this project. The surrounding buildings protect but also encourage people to go inside to enjoy allotment garden, which will benefit the intergenerational and community communication during activities.
