Memorial – the birds skyscraper
The design idea of “Memorial” is mainly to build a skyscraper to interface with birds in St James Park, while making it have some monumental characteristics to match the church and surrounding environment. The shape of the tower is a transformation of the vaults commonly found in Gothic churches. The intention is to create a space for birds to inhabit on the top of the tower based on canopies. The bottom of the tower serves as an exhibition space displaying the history of Liverpool and famous people who buried in the park. This watchtower is designed not only as a birds skyscraper, but also a monument to the history of Liverpool.
