Subtraction

The creation of an extroverted building. By inverting and subtracting from a traditionally defensive and reserved form, you can create pockets of space that act as transition spaces between the building and wider city block. This helps to draw people in from street level by blurring the threshold between interior and exterior spaces. The subtractions are curved to allow meandering through the building, rather than just moving from point a to point b, encouraging exploration.
