Berkley Street Revival
The project is to create a Youth Zone that will primarily cater for 11-21 year olds but also include access for older and younger groups from the neighbouring community (Toxteth). The site is located in Toxteth on the remaining vacant infill of the adopted city block at the top of Princes Avenue. The design reveals a place which can accommodate the youth and let them have the ability to escape and socially interact with one another as well.
In this project, the main design driver was to have the Sports Hall centrally located on site which would primarily house footballing activities. This is because throughout the design process there were significant findings that the community and the city itself pride themselves on their sport and especially football. Therefore, making sure that this is the central hub of the building was vital in order to attract the local community.
