Slate Fault Museum

The design is inspired by geology fault. The mountain on which the site sits was cut in half by a railway line, exposing a small geological section. I tried to extend this effect to the whole site design, using the height difference of the mountains to show the materials designed at different heights. The ground floor is a handmade workshop dug down, the basement poured with cement will be gradually revealed as the terrain undulates, and at the end is the freight platform leading to the train track. The middle level is the visitor level where the heritage is located, retaining the original long stone wall. Several non-load bearing walls were removed or doors were added in a few areas. The upper level is a wooden walkway built between the ruins and the residential building, extending further than the stone wall and crossing the railway to the other side. The top floor reveals a residential building with brick walls, retaining a certain degree of privacy.
