The fabric district is in need of a social revival due to its residents and high street shopping facilities such as TJ hughes moving elsewhere, to approach this we as students have come up with a solution which not only attracts local residents but also allows them to feel involved in helping the districts revival. Brickollege is an innovative construct made to engage the local community through its variety of opportunities, some of which allows students and residents to have the chance of physically making sustainable bricks inspired by the Carmody Groarke practice. A variety of services are available within Brickollege, some of which is a social space, teaching rooms, private offices, kilns and the main central space for constructing the bricks themselves! At a foundational stage, students are encouraged to create as many of these environmentally friendly bricks as possible to aid the issue of global warming and which they will then be used within constructing the other buildings to form the college. At its completion, all extra bricks made will be distributed to the brick development association and the local authority to help aid the brick shortage which took place shortly after the United Kingdom left the EU.
