Waterside Theatre Works

The site for the project sat next to the water of the Albert Docks, which prompted the idea to use this prominent view and make this elevation a ‘theatre’ of its own, with people (the audience) being able to look out at the views (the performance/stage). This later led to the inception of having a total of three ‘theatres’ in the building; being the main auditorium, the main staircase which acts as the theatre of the dockside, and finally the bar. The bar is where the audience spend the intervals of the main showings as well as  where the director of the theatre performances conducts a ‘hot seat’ session with the audience, offering the opportunity to discuss the show’s ideas and aims and the performance in general.
