Huyton, a small town between Manchester and Liverpool.

Hi! Town!

A carnival celebrates the bicentenary of the first manned train journey from Liverpool to Manchester. Scheduled for September 2030, creating an inclusive and vibrant carnival atmosphere. Designed for accessibility, the carnival site includes study pavilions, media suites, and flexible group spaces, catering to diverse groups, including the elderly, young families, and the visually impaired. The layout is attractive from train views, encouraging visitors to explore Huyton. This project transforms unused spaces into lively environments, reconnecting Huyton with its community and neighboring cities.

Between the media culture area and the café in Re-Connect, visitors can walk through the entire project to reach the garden at the back.

Re-Connect

Transforms a small town between Manchester and Liverpool into a vibrant cultural hub. This project creates a cultural centre reflecting Huyton’s identity, addressing the migration of residents to larger cities for recreation. By breaking down barriers like the railway line and Archway Road, and incorporating an artist studio, library, café, and cinema, the design promotes community engagement and accessibility. Inspired by sustainable urban redevelopment practices, the project reuses existing structures to minimize costs and environmental impact, aiming to make Huyton a cultural link between major cities.
