Our Approach
This year, during the first semester, our BA2 students had the unique opportunity to delve into a project addressing sustainable strategies in different climate zones worldwide in coordination with their Environmental Design module. They also had the chance to explore their creative side by developing a film in groups crafting narratives about some of the unique buildings and sites in the Liverpool area, based on the insights from the History and Theory module.

During the second semester, our students were introduced to designing in urban environments. This was in connection with their Urban Studies module. This year, we had the privilege of working in Toxteth, a vibrant and diverse area with a rich historical character and a strong community. The students’ proposed pedestrianisation of the central Toxteth urban axes ( Windson and Admiral streets) is set to transform the public space and breathe new life into the area. The model on display is just a glimpse of a larger model currently under development by a group of BA2 students. This model will be exhibited in Toxteth in September with the support of the Liverpool City Council. Students also progressed their technical understanding through the teaching and tutoring provided in their Structures module and their practical application to their design projects.

Regarding extracurricular activities, our BA2 students could travel internationally with the school’s support this year. We organised four trips to Rotterdam, Paris, Rome, and Seville. The students visited the cities and their monuments as an introduction to understanding the urban complexities in relevant European cities. BA 2 students were also involved in a project with the Chinatown community in Liverpool, in coordination with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Shanghai and Liverpool as twin cities.
