In BA3 we again divided into several design studios, each with its own unique design agenda, whilst all exploring complex buildings that are both contextually and technically well-resolved. This year, we introduced two new design studios – Climate Cultures Studio and RE-heritage – to further diversify our offering. Continuing studios were Pen + Inc, Practice North, Studio 5 and Studio NOW.

Many projects were located in Liverpool and the surrounding city region, which continues to provide a challenging testbed of architectural ideas. Additionally, projects extended to North Wales and further afield to Frankfurt and Sardinia, offering opportunities to develop designs in a range of contexts. We were also delighted to offer field trips to Bilbao and the Basque Country, Copenhagen, Milan, and Venice for the Biennale, allowing students to engage with architecture and urban design outside of the studio, as well as offering a chance to build stronger connections with each other.

The projects featured in this online catalogue celebrate the hard work of our six BA3 design studios across the year. These have been completed while students navigated lecture-based modules, part-time jobs, and other circumstances beyond the course. Studying architecture requires perseverance and resilience. Congratulations to all our BA students—the projects exhibited are a testament to your tremendous efforts.
