Quarrying Stone

Creates noise, pollution, harms biodiversity, creates vibrations in to the ground and is a visual eyesore.

Although in order to create concrete 4 different quarries are needed, whilst for stone only 1 is needed. Therefore the amount of quarries will reduce.

Choosing natural stone can be more expensive

Currently a lot of stone is imported due to these high prices

Labour costs associated with Stone can be higher than other materials

In some regions clay sources are closer than stone sources eg. London

Clay bricks are also a major part of the UK’s building history

Although we can build with stone bricks

They are stronger, carry less embodied carbon and come in a variety of colours and shapes.

Although currently the UK does not have a supplier of stone bricks

Therefore they would currently need to be imported

Due to the amount of cuts needed to create stone bricks, it can create a lot of waste-age in the form of stone dust and off-cuts.
