Spatial Filmmaking Workshop with Queen’s University Belfast

Between 8th and 11th of  October Master of Applied Architecture and Design students from Queen’s University have been visiting the Liverpool School of Architecture to do a joint workshop with BA3 students, led by filmmaker and architect Monika Koeck. In groups of 3-4, students make two short films, one to draw the portrait of a prominent building, Liverpool Cathedral, and one to express Liverpool in a city sinfonietta, all to be screened publicly on the last day.

In this weeklong workshop, students familiarised themselves with the skills necessary to work with digital moving images in the context of architecture/space, and they narrate 3D space on a 2D screen to deploy conscious aesthetic strategies and appropriate screen language to communicate architectural concepts through the medium of digital film.
