For our second semester project for a community centre on Derby Road in Huyton, we gradually got to know this quiet and harmonious site through a number of site studies. As a community centre, the main thrust of my project was to create a place that would be suitable for residents of all ages. I also wanted the community centre to be more than just a place to host events, it should also be a place where the community can go to relax and find activities at any time of the day or night. The community centre will not only decorate the atmosphere of the community but will also be gradually decorated with activities for the residents. The content created by the residents in the community centre will enrich the community centre’s interior and even the community centre’s content. This project will enable the community and the residents to build a deeper connection with each other, grow together, and empower each other.

Gallery
Gallery Image 1 is a rendering of the interior of the children’s library at the community centre, which provides desks suitable for children to study, as well as window cabinets with window seats designed to provide children with the opportunity to choose their preferred seat to read and study.
Gallery Image 2 is the gateway to the community centre, looking through the west towards the community garden. Surrounding the gateway are the community cafe and craft brewery, as well as the outdoor dining area. Through the gates, you will also reach the community kitchen, which, together with the cafe and craft brewery, forms the community indoor/outdoor dining bar.
Gallery Image 3 is a rendering of the interior of the community theatre, featuring a stepped seating arrangement to accommodate more residents to attend performances. A bar is also provided outside the seating area for enjoyment between performances.
Gallery Image 4 is a north-south section of the entire community centre project from an east-to-west perspective, showing the spatial arrangement of the different floors of the community centre vertically.
Gallery Image 5 is an elevation view of the community centre from the south, showing the prominent transport pipeline connecting the rooftop roaster to the café on the ground floor. Prepared coffee beans will be delivered directly to the café via the transport pipeline. This saves manpower allows residents to visualise the source of the ingredients used in the community café, and attracts residents to the restaurant and the roaster.
